Write for School Safety Plainly

School Safety Plainly shares plain-language safety guidance for K-12 schools, from pre-K and kindergarten through 12th grade. We welcome guest posts from people who do this work: safety directors, school resource officers, administrators, counselors, nurses, facilities staff and emergency managers.

K-12 onlyGuest posts must be about K-12 schools. We don’t publish posts written for colleges or universities.

What we’re looking for

  • Practical advice from real experience in K-12 schools
  • 600 to 1,200 words in plain language, without jargon
  • Topics like drills, reunification, visitor management, threat assessment, emergency communication and lessons learned

What we don’t publish

  • Promotion of a product, vendor or service
  • Posts aimed at colleges or universities
  • Articles already published somewhere else

How it works

  1. Email contact@schoolsafetyplainly.org with your topic idea and a few lines about your role.
  2. If it’s a fit, you write the draft.
  3. We edit it for clarity and accuracy and translate it into Spanish. You’ll see the final version before it goes live.
  4. Your post runs with your name, title and a short bio with one link.
